If you are looking to lose weight, you might be tempted to try out any one of the newest “diet fads”that are out there. Do not be tempted by these. They are not only ineffective, they are also unhealthy. There is a healthier way to lose weight. Some tips are outlined below.

1. Eat a plate of fresh steamed vegetables before your meal. Just steam up a whole pot of any type of vegetable without butter or oil and eat them plain. Once you have eaten your plate of veggies, go ahead and eat your meal. Not only are the vegetables good for you, they will fill you up so that you eat less of your meal which will reduce the amount of calories you consume. Steamed vegetables contain no fat and very few calories, so you can eat as much of those as you want and they will provide your body with essential vitamins, minerals and nutrients.

2. No matter what you decide to eat for your meal, push it aside after eating half of it and wait about 5 to 10 minutes. Usually, when you do this you will begin to feel full and will not eat the remaining portion on your plate. This is because by waiting the 5 to 10 minutes, you are giving your brain some time to receive the message from your stomach that you are full. If you still feel hungry after waiting the 5 to 10 minutes, go ahead and continue eating slowly.

3. Set yourself some realistic weight loss goals. Unrealistic goals will only disappoint you and leave you unmotivated to continue your diet when you are not achieving them. A realistic goal would be to lose 2 pounds a week. Anything over that is unhealthy anyway, so keep your goals down to what you can effectively achieve.

These are just a few weight loss tips that will help you lose weight the healthy way, just remember that when in doubt, contact someone working a locum doctor job. They will be able to advise you on the best way to lose weight safely and in a healthy way for your body. Have some patience with yourself and combine your dieting with exercise and you should see some amazing results before you know it.

There have been numerous research studies that have shown how Omega 3 fish oils can prevent certain illnesses and disease such as heart disease, high cholesterol, migraines, high blood pressure, depression, autoimmune diseases and other serious conditions.

Clinical trials have been conducted and have proven that Omega 3 oils help to reduce cardiovascular diseases such as heart arrhythmia and heart attacks. They also lower the levels of bad cholesterol (LDL) while increasing good cholesterol (HDL) levels. In addition, Omega 3 fish oils improve blood circulation and reduce the chances of blood clots in the arteries.

Omega 3 fish oils have also been shown to improve brain functioning such as memory. People taking these oils reduce their risk of suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

Omega 3 fish oils effectively reduce inflammation in our tissue and blood due to its anti-inflammatory properties. Therefore, these oils are helpful for keep inflammatory diseases such as arthritis and rheumatism under control.

Omega 3 fats are actually polyunsaturated fats which contain certain nutrients our bodies need. There are various Omega 3 fats, but the most important are eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Fish oils provide an excellent source of DHA and EPA while walnuts and flax seeds are good for ALA.

Typically, Omega 3 fatty acids can be found mostly in oily cold-water fish such as tuna, mackerel and salmon. However, due to contamination and industrial pollution such as PCBs, mercury and lead that can be found in fish today, it’s best to get your fish oils in the form of a supplement.

Omega 3 fish oil supplements can be found in almost any health food store, grocery store, pharmacy or department store. It is a good idea to talk with your doctor before starting these supplements.

There are many things you can do to keep yourself healthy. Living a healthy lifestyle is a good start. Below are steps you can take to be living that healthy lifestyle that keeping your body healthy.

Eating a balanced diet should be on the top of your list. Many illnesses and diseases happen due to eating improperly. A balanced diet should include foods that are rich in vitamins, minerals and other important nutrients your body needs. A healthy diet would include fresh fruits and vegetables, protein rich foods such as dairy and lean meats and foods low in sugar and salt. Also, it is essential that you drink plenty of water to flush out unhealthy toxins from the body.

Exercising is also on the priority list for healthy living. It is a good idea that you get in 30 minutes of exercise at least 3 times a week if not more to keep your body strong. Exercise does not have to be strenuous workouts. A brisk walk each day, swimming, playing sports or even dancing can be a good alternative.

We all lift heavy objects from time to time, mainly large bags of shopping and groceries, so it’s important to lift correctly, by keeping the back straight and bending at the legs. There are manual handling instructor training courses that can give more advice on this.

Give up the bad habits such as smoking and consuming excessive alcohol. Doing this will keep your heart healthy. Also, stress is a bad habit as well. Although stress cannot be avoided all the time, learning how to handle it is important for your health. Stress is one of the leading causes of illness and even death. There are plenty of techniques out there that can help you keep your stress levels to a minimum such as yoga or meditation.

Last, it is important that you get in your regular doctor visits. This will ensure that your body is functioning properly. If there are any problems that need to be addressed, it is through these regular checkups that will catch them in time to rid them from your body.

Your weight falling, rising, falling, rising just like a YO YO throughout life can be the most life altering event happening in your life! Ever since I could remember I have had family members bring me prune juice instead of chocolates saying this would help me lose weight, giving me grapefruits for lunch instead of the bologna sandwich which I had been craving for all afternoon, and even counting how many times had I eaten a burger in a week. My age when this cycle started was when I was merely 9 years old.

If you ever observe my family walking down the mall together, you will instantly spot us for our healthy posteriors. Hey, it runs in the family… from generation to generation. With awareness being so high now, I am just very careful of ensuring I keep my weight at a manageable level but unfortunately my mom, her sister, her brothers are not so lucky.

The helplessness one feels when you see your loved ones popping pill after pill for some or the other ailment is heart wrenching. With years of being obese, it becomes more and more difficult to lose weight through diet and exercise. The only way out is weight loss surgery.

Also known as bariatric surgery, this procedure is not a mere cosmetic solution but is regarded as a MAJOR operation. It has its share of side effects with patients having to stay on nutritional supplements for years and constant supervision by the surgeon. Nevertheless, in individuals whose life is altered due to their being morbidly obese the benefits which he or she will get from the surgery would be immense. Some lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, blood pressure, or other deadly diseases can be prevented or at least managed in a better way with the initiation of weight loss surgery.

When there are no other leaves to turn over in your effort to lose weight it could be a wise decision to take into consideration the procedure of bariatric surgery.

Eating healthy means choosing foods that are rich in nutrients and include all the essential vitamins and minerals that the body needs. Along with these essential nutrients, there are other things to consider when choosing a healthy diet.

The first thing to consider is adding more fresh fruits and vegetables to your diet. These foods are an excellent source of fiber and Vitamins A & C. They are low in fat, sugar and sodium.

Avoid processed foods which are loaded with artificial flavors, colors and preservatives. These types of foods may block the uptake of essential vitamins and minerals into the body. These foods only help to fulfill cravings and add not nutritional value.

Add foods from the bottom of the pyramid such as breads, potatoes and cereals. Dairy products such as milk, cheese and yogurt are good in moderation because they provide Vitamin D and calcium which is essential for building strong bones. Lean meats, fish, eggs and poultry are important foods for protein, zinc and iron. If you are a little bored of the old chicken and rice standby, try some of these great chicken recipes.

Eating organic foods is a good alternative as it will provide a synthetic free supply of all the vitamins, minerals and nutrients your body needs. You can eat these foods without consuming any harsh chemicals and pesticides that other foods are grown with.

Eating healthy foods is essential for a healthy life free of disease and illness. You will feel better and more energized. Include a regular fitness routine with your healthy diet to keep your body in shape and your heart strong. Choose organic foods versus processed foods and keep your levels of dairy and red meats, oil, sweets and sodium to a minimum level.

It’s been handed down generation to generation; special healing chicken soup that no-one but your own mum can make right for you. Usually eaten when you’re not feeling well, it is full of vitamins that will bring you back to health in no time. My boyfriend was recently ill with flu and I decided to brave the healing chicken recipes for myself. I listened to my mum’s instructions and checked out some general recipes online and voila I actually made a tasty soup that did the trick! It’s really easy to make and once all the ingredients are bubbling away in the pot, the rest does itself. I’m not one to stick rigidly to quantities, with cooking I prefer to use my eye, so I haven’t included strict measurements.

For Healing Chicken Soup you will need:

Chicken (I found thighs and legs best for meat)
Olive Oil
2 medium sized Onions, chopped or diced
3 carrots
Celery (2 or 3 stalks diced)
Garlic (2 or 3 cloves diced)
Mixed herbs
Freshly chopped parsley
Salt and Pepper to season
Turmeric to taste (just a sprinkling)

Firstly chop and dice the onions, celery, carrots and garlic. Add olive oil to a large cooking pot and gently heat up. Add the onions, celery, carrots and garlic to the pot and allow to soften for 5-8 minutes. While the vegetables are cooking, take the skin off the chicken thighs and legs. Add the chicken to the pot and fill with water until the chicken is covered. The pot should be about ¾ full, leaving a couple of inches to the top spare. Add salt, pepper, mixed herbs, parsley and turmeric to the pot and bring the water to the boil. Once the soup has begun to bubble, reduce the heat to a simmer and allow to simmer to at least 1 ½ hours. Keep an eye on the soup to make sure it’s not bubbling over and stir from time to time.

After 1 ½ hours, remove the chicken pieces from the soup and gently pull or cut the meat off the bones. By now, the meat will just fall off. Add the chicken chunks back to the soup and voila your magic healing chicken soup is done!

Don’t forget to add plenty of lemon juice, squeezed from a fresh lemon to enhance the flavour and add vitamin C to your soup.

‘A man is known by his friends’. This is an oft heard expression. But do we know that a man also lives longer because of his friends regardless of care fees annuities and quality of health care. A person who goes through life with no family or friends to speak of is a waste of life. There is no goal, no objective and no direction in this kind of a life. We start making friends the moment we touch down on Earth. As babies we have parents for friends and as we grow our need for friends changes and we pick them based what we need from them as we go on. Having friends means you have someone to talk to, confide in, have fun with and share our joy and sorrow. Friends are there when we celebrate an occasion making it special and making us feel good. Feeling good in actuality is a physical manifestation of a physiological activity. Friends are there to help us get through difficult situations. A support structure such as this helps maintain a stable physical and psychological balance thereby ensuring your life goes on normally and your body does not have to take on everything that life throws at you by itself.

Research indicates that years actually add on to a lifetime in people who have had a good share of stable and supportive relationships with friends and families. The relationships we go through not just touch us on an emotional level, but also affect physical well being. It is rather well known that extreme emotional stress often manifests itself in various ailments. So the connection here is quite obvious. Social interactions help keep certain physiological systems running and this therefore adds to the overall maintenance of the body helping it function the way it is supposed to for as long as it is meant to.

If you happen to ever find yourself with symptoms of Tinnitus, it is best to find out right away how this happened and how you can get rid of the annoying ringing in your ear. Any health problem is never welcomed in a person’s life. Therefore, it is best to make an appointment with a physician or specialty doctor who sees patients with this health problem before it gets worse. Tinnitus can in fact get worse. In fact, it might be a disease in the ear which is now manifesting into the ringing in your ear, a whistling noise or the sound of running water.

Any of these noises could be caused by anything that is loud. A loud noise could be music, standing next to a loud radio, being at a concert, working with or around heavy equipment and using household equipment. I am sure many other noises could cause Tinnitus besides the ones listed.

Along with everyday noises exacerbating the symptoms of Tinnitus an individual might be feeling or hearing, Tinnitus might be a disease which the sufferer does not know about. Now, the symptoms associated with Tinnitus are probably not causing the disease itself. Tinnitus is possibly a likeness of a disease which is occurring in the inner part of the ear. Tinnitus in a way is mimicking a disease located in the inner ear.

Sadly, just when you think you are alone with this uncomfortable feeling in your ear, you are not alone. Unfortunately, there is between 30 to 40 million people worldwide who suffer with this ringing noise in their ear. If you are looking for a cure without having to pay high care fees, the best way to get rid of the ringing in your ear is by using alternative or homeopathic remedies.

With all the herbs found, all over the world, even vegetables, it is sad they are not used more often to cure more than just tinnitus. Although it takes a step of faith to go the homeopathic route, it is ultimately, the best way to cure the tinnitus, without going overboard. Even when using natural remedies, it is advised to use these herbal remedies in moderation.

Another thing, there is a cure for tinnitus and do not let a physician or specialist tell you otherwise. Many physicians are not in the business of healing; only prolonging the uncomfortable feeling in your ear.
