Workouts for the time poor

In today’s world, it’s increasingly difficult to balance all of the different elements of our lives. With work, school, family, and our personal lives and hobbies, it can be difficult to fit in that thing that helps us feel good and stay fit. Yes, I’m talking about exercise. If you’re time-poor, try integrating some of these simple tips into your daily habits.
Add some extra steps here and there. Try getting off the bus or train a stop early, and walking the extra distance. This will only take an extra five minutes or so, but it will help you stay in shape.
Take the stairs. Yes, as easy as lifts are, they’re not exactly a good way to get your daily exercise. Climb the stairs up to your office instead, and try going to the bathroom on a different floor to the one that your office is on. By adding in a few extra flights of stairs a day, you’ll improve your fitness and your muscle strength.
Multitask. There are plenty of simple exercises you can do while doing boring tasks such as teleconferencing or photocopying. If you’re standing, do some simple calf raises. You can also take the time to stretch out your stiff muscles with some basic stretching exercises. Swing your arms around like a swimmer, and lift your knees up to your chest. Of course, this is easier to do if you have your own office!
Clench those muscles. While most people can’t boast washboard abs, you can improve the state of yours with some simple exercises that don’t even involve pushups. While walking around or sitting at your desk, hold your stomach muscles in as far as you can for a few seconds, and then release them. You can do the same with your legs and butt muscles. It may not seem like much, but you’ll definitely feel, and see, the difference after a while.
One last thing, I need to brag a little bit. I have just bought the most delightful newton running shoes that I have ever owned. Boston Marathon, here I come!
