If you’re finding that your skin doesn’t have its usual glow, and that your complexion is starting to trouble you, don’t fear. There are a number of steps that you can take to ensure that your skin gets back to its usual gorgeous self.

This is one that seems to be trotted out all over the place, but the fact is, it’s repeated everywhere because it works. Yes, I’m talking about drinking more water. Drinking water is a great way to hydrate yourself, and also helps your body flush out those toxins that might be affecting your skin. If you can’t stand the idea of drinking several glasses of plain water, try flavouring it with some lemon or lime, or drinking green tea instead.

Make sure you get enough sleep. It seems basic, but many women fail to get sufficient amounts of sleep each night. And without our beauty sleep, well, we don’t look like beauties. Try to get around eight hours’ sleep every night if possible, and make sure that it’s quality, uninterrupted sleep, too. To achieve this, avoid stimulating activities such as watching TV or drinking caffeinated drinks late at night.

Another thing that can affect your skin’s health is the quality of your diet. If you’ve been snacking on junk food and ordering takeaway, your skin is probably not looking its best. Try to increase the healthy, natural food in your diet, and cut back on the processed stuff that contains all sorts of chemicals whose names you don’t even understand.

Quit smoking, and cut back on your drinking. While the benefits of red wine seem to outweigh any cons, drinking too much of any type of alcohol can take its toll on your body, including your skin. Smoking, on the other hand, isn’t good even in moderation, and will make your skin look dry and dull. It’s definitely a habit to kick if you want healthy skin.
